FAQS

Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions I hear about therapy. If you don’t see your question answered below, contact me.

  • I’m located in Olympia, WA. I see clients in person in the Olympia area and statewide via telehealth.

  • Online therapy works a lot like in-person therapy, with a few significant differences.

For online therapy, you’ll need a quiet, private place, a device (computer, tablet, or smart phone), and a good internet connection.

Before your session starts, you’ll receive a link via email or text message. Then you’ll click on the link to join the video session.

The video platform is secure and HIPAA-compliant.

Online therapy can be a great option if you’re short on time (no commute), have limited mobility, or prefer the comfort of own space.

You can participate from anywhere in Washington State!

  • Yes. In-person sessions take place at my office in the Olympia area.

  • No, I currently work with individual adults only. I do know a few great child and family therapists and am happy to refer you to someone, if needed.

  • Individual therapy, 53 minutes: $180

    Initial intake, 80 minutes: $225

    Individual therapy, 80 minutes: $225

  • I am an out-of-network provider and do not work directly with insurance companies. However, I can provide you with a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. I’m happy to walk you through the process of exploring your out-of-network benefits, if you’re interested. If so, please contact me.

  • Your first appointment will be an intake session. During this session we’ll talk about your history, how you’re doing now, and your goals. We won’t talk in detail about your past experiences, and you don’t have to share anything you don’t want to. We’ll also talk about what to expect through this process, and I’ll answer any questions you have.

From there, we’ll make a plan and meet regularly to help you meet your goals. Sessions usually consist of talking about how things are going and specific exercises to help you get where you want to be. They might include special techniques, like EMDR and the Flash Technique, which can help lower the distressing feelings about past or upcoming experiences.

Through our work together, you’ll experience relief, insight, confidence, and start feeling better.

  • This will depend on your past experiences, how you’re doing now, and your goals. I’ll be able to give you an estimated time frame after your initial consultation and first session. Some people work with me for several months, while others work with me for more than a year. Transformation and healing take time, effort, and consistency. However, everyone is different and you will ultimately decide how long you want to be in therapy.

  • Effective January 1, 2022, all state-licensed or certified healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who is either uninsured, receiving out of network services, or is not planning to submit a claim to their insurance.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining estimated cost of the mental health care services you are receiving.

I am happy to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate upon request. For more information, please visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
